Day 45 Ennis to Dillon

Friday, July 1, 2011

Miles 73.78 Total 3,119.05 Daily Avg 69.31
Avg Speed 14.4 Max Speed 39.9 Alt Climbed 2,946 ft

The mornings are very cool so we do not rush out of the campsite. We left at 8:30 and quickly were challenged with our only climb of the day. We climbed out of the valley and sped 4 miles down into Virginia City and Nevada City. Both towns are old gold rush towns currently trying to capitalize on tourist visiting the towns. We stopped to walk the old streets and visit some of the shops before continuing on our way.

The landscape today is less pasture land and more farmland. There are less hills more rolling landscape. Although it is late June it is still springtime this far north and the grass remains green and flowers are blooming.

Joey and Justin met us in Twin Bridges for lunch. Joey and I ordered the “noon'er
special” which as the name suggest did not disappoint. Sirloin steak, salad, soup potato and bread for $10.00, what a deal. After the huge lunch the final 28 miles into Dillon were sluggish.
