Day 44 West Yellowstone to Ennis, MT

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Miles  71.97  Total  3045.27     Daily Avg  69.21
Avg Speed  17.1  Max Speed  40.5    Alt climbed   1312 ft

Took our time getting up and out this morning. We enjoyed our dinner so much last night we decided to return the “The Cowboy Cafe” for breakfast. Time for some biscuits, gravy, chicken fried steak and some pancakes. Great way to start the day, a little to much food if you are planning to ride 70 miles.

The ride today was relaxing, downhill most of the day with some crosswinds and tailwinds to move us along. We passed many Montana lakes and streams. This is fly fishing country and we could watch the fly fisherman casting in the streams as we rode past. We passed many elaborate fishing lodges which I would not consider roughing it they looked very comfortable.

Today was international day on the TranAm were past three cycling heading west.  A young girl from the Netherlands, Jack, in his forties from the Netherlands and a young man from Australia.

We are spending the night in a campground in Ennis, MT.  A great setting with mountains on both sides.  The days are getting longer as w go further north.  At 9:30 this evening you could still read a book and it was sunlight at 5:00 AM.  This will continue until we turn west into Idaho.
